Bunnie Xo has used humour to address her split from Jelly Roll, joking that ending their nearly decade-long relationship felt like being released after serving a “10-year bid in prison”. The podcaster made the remark while reading messages from admirers on the latest episode of her Dumb Blonde podcast.
During the episode, Bunnie, whose real name is Alisa DeFord, shared some of the direct messages she has received since news of the couple's divorce became public. One message came from a man who said he was nearing the end of a 10-year prison sentence and hoped to meet her after his release.
Laughing at the message, Bunnie quipped: “I just got out of a 10-year bid too,” drawing laughter from her co-hosts and making light of her recent separation from the country star.
The joke comes shortly after Jelly Roll, whose legal name is Jason Bradley DeFord, filed for divorce on May 18, 2026, citing irreconcilable differences. Court documents state that the couple separated on May 9, 2026, ending a marriage that began in August 2016.
Despite the end of their marriage, both Bunnie and Jelly Roll have repeatedly insisted the split is amicable. The singer recently told fans during a concert that “nobody cheated on nobody” and described Bunnie as his best friend, while Bunnie has revealed they still intend to have a child together through their ongoing IVF journey.
Sources close to the former couple have said there was no single event that caused the marriage to end. Instead, they reportedly grew apart as Jelly Roll's life and career changed dramatically over the past few years, though they continue to have deep respect and affection for one another.
While Bunnie is approaching single life with her trademark sense of humour, she has also acknowledged the emotional weight of the divorce, describing it as the beginning of a new chapter after nearly a decade together.
