Body of ASF deputy director found

A Turkish drilling operator who went missing following an armed attack on a mining site in Balochistan's Chaghi district has been safely recovered and reunited with his family after nearly two months away from home, while in a separate development, authorities confirmed the recovery of the body of a senior Airports Security Force (ASF) officer who had been abducted last month.

According to officials, drilling operator Salih Guljamal was located in Mastung district and taken into protective custody before being transferred to Quetta. After the completion of legal and administrative formalities, he was flown to Turkiye. Authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the circumstances of his recovery.

Guljamal had been reported missing since April 22, 2026, when armed assailants attacked a mining site operated by National Resources Limited (NRL) in the Daregwan area of Chaghi district.

The attack resulted in multiple fatalities, including security personnel, local workers, and a Turkish drilling operator. Following the incident, Guljamal could not be located, prompting extensive efforts by relevant authorities to determine his whereabouts.

In a separate incident, authorities said the body of 58-year-old Muhammad Waseem, a Deputy Director of the Airports Security Force and resident of Karachi, was recovered.
