Father, uncle held for murdering minor boy

The consequences of a parents' separation fell on their child, as a father allegedly beat his minor son to death.

Surjani Town police have arrested the father and his brother in connection with the boy's murder. According to police, a minor boy died due to alleged torture at a house near Ali Waliullah Stadium in Sarjani Sector 36. The body of the deceased child was brought to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital via a Chhipa ambulance.

Police identified the deceased as 10-year-old Haider Ali, son of Azhar Ali. SHO Surjani Town Inspector Sohail Khaskheli said the boy was allegedly tortured to death by his father, Azhar Ali. The suspect and his brother, Sultan Ali, were arrested from the scene.

Officials said Azhar Ali had divorced his wife, who hailed from Multan. After the divorce, she returned to Multan. Police said Haider, distressed by frequent torture, had run away from his father's house two days earlier. He spent the night between Tuesday and Wednesday at Surjani Town police station, where he told the duty officer about his parents' divorce.
