9-1-1 actress Justene Alpert reveals heartbreaking reason behind pregnancy loss
Justene Alpert shared that doctors advised ending her pregnancy after discovering a rare genetic disorder

Actress Justene Alpert has opened up about a deeply personal loss, revealing that she and her husband, Mason Trueblood, made the difficult decision to terminate a pregnancy after doctors discovered a rare genetic disorder affecting their unborn child.
In a statement shared on Instagram on June 24, the 9-1-1, Rescue: HI-Surf, and How I Met Your Mother actress explained that she was preparing to share news of the pregnancy with friends and family when doctors contacted the couple with concerning medical findings.
According to Alpert, medical professionals identified a rare genetic condition that posed serious risks to both her health and the baby's development. While she did not disclose the specific diagnosis, she said doctors strongly recommended ending the pregnancy, warning that the child would not survive to term and that continuing the pregnancy could endanger her own health.
The procedure took place several weeks later, a decision Alpert described as emotionally devastating. She said the experience left both her and her husband struggling with feelings of grief, guilt and shame.
Alpert credited her husband, family members and close friends for supporting her through the difficult period. She also explained that she chose to share her story publicly in hopes of helping other women facing similar circumstances feel less isolated.
In her message, the actress paid tribute to her unborn son, whom she named Mads Mason Trueblood. She wrote that she would always love him and carry his memory with her.
Alpert's revelation comes amid broader public discussions surrounding pregnancy loss, prenatal diagnoses and reproductive healthcare decisions. By speaking openly about her experience, the actress said she hopes to encourage compassion and understanding for families navigating complex medical situations.
