RAWALPINDI:

Aleema Khan, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, said on Tuesday the nation stood united on the issues of the former premier's release and medical treatment.

Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Aleema demanded that any medical treatment of Imran be carried out in the presence of family members and that court orders regarding prison meetings be fully implemented.

She alleged that the decision to prevent her sister Noreen Niazi from meeting the PTI founder had not been taken by jail authorities but by other quarters. She further claimed that injustice was being done to the PTI founder and called for serious efforts to resolve political issues.

Aleema said if assurances regarding prison meetings and related matters were not provided, the party would decide its future course of action in consultation with workers, adding that Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas would play a role in addressing political issues.

Meanwhile, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja said the federal government's request for financial assistance from the provinces had been linked with the issue of meetings with Imran, adding that a decision on whether to provide the requested funds would be taken later.
