Kidnapped youth rescued after police encounter
Police claimed to have rescued a kidnapped youth and arrested three alleged kidnappers following an armed encounter, while two other suspects managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
According to police, 22-year-old Farhan, a resident of Shakargarh, was allegedly kidnapped a few days ago. The kidnappers reportedly demanded Rs3 million in ransom from his family for his release.
Following a complaint by the victim's family, City Police registered a case and launched an investigation.
Police said the suspects had kept the hostage in a house in Faisal Town and remained in contact with the family through WhatsApp calls. On Sunday night, the kidnappers again contacted Farhan's father and instructed him to bring the ransom money to a designated location.
Acting on the information, a police team led by SHO City Police Station Naveed Warraich reached the area and cordoned off the suspected hideout.
Police claimed that the suspects opened indiscriminate fire in an attempt to evade arrest, prompting a retaliatory response.
