Director Craig Gillespie is reportedly in talks to helm Homewreckers, an upcoming sci-fi thriller from Legendary Pictures that is set to star Glen Powell.

According to Deadline, the project is based on a novella by Neil Paik, who is also adapting the screenplay. While plot details remain under wraps, the film has been described as a twisty and erotic science-fiction thriller. The project was acquired by Legendary in a competitive situation in December 2024 and remains in active development.

Powell is attached to star in the film and will also serve as a producer. The actor continues to build on a string of high-profile projects following recent successes that have established him as one of Hollywood’s most sought-after leading men.

If the deal is finalised, Homewreckers would mark another major studio project for Gillespie, who is preparing for the release of Supergirl, the upcoming DC Studios film starring Milly Alcock. The superhero feature is scheduled to be released by Warner Bros. on June 26 and represents Gillespie’s first entry into the new DC Universe.

Legendary has not publicly commented on the reported negotiations. Likewise, specific details regarding casting beyond Powell, production timelines and a release date have not yet been announced.

The project reunites two of Hollywood’s most in-demand creative talents at a time when science-fiction thrillers continue to attract significant audience interest. With Gillespie known for directing visually distinctive films and Powell continuing to expand his producing portfolio, Homewreckers is already generating attention despite its secretive development process.

As development continues, more information about the film’s storyline and supporting cast is expected to emerge in the coming months.
