KARACHI:

The Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) has completed the repatriation of eight Iranian nationals rescued at sea, providing them humanitarian assistance and facilitating all necessary arrangements for their safe return home.

According to a PMSA spokesperson, the eight Iranian citizens were rescued by the merchant vessel MMA VALOUR while at sea.

Following the rescue, the agency coordinated their reception, documentation, medical examinations and all other formalities required for their repatriation.

Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Pakistan Navy, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the Iranian Consulate General and other relevant national and international organisations were present during the process.

The spokesperson said the operation was carried out through coordinated efforts between national and international agencies, reflecting Pakistan's commitment to protecting lives at sea, providing humanitarian assistance and promoting regional maritime cooperation.

The PMSA said it would continue to fulfil its search-and-rescue responsibilities in Pakistan's maritime zones and remain committed to safeguarding human life at sea by providing timely assistance during maritime emergencies.
