FAISALABAD:

In a first-of-its-kind initiative aimed at facilitating mourners during Muharram, the divisional administration has initiated the use of anti-smog guns on procession routes to reduce the intensity of heat and improve environmental conditions for participants.

Divisional Commissioner Musarrat Jabeen said the innovative measure is being implemented across the division as part of arrangements for the holy month. She said two anti-smog guns have been deployed in the division and are being used across all four districts to intermittently spray water along procession routes.

She said the initiative has been introduced in view of prevailing hot weather to provide maximum relief and comfort to mourners. The water spraying system is also helping reduce dust and improve air quality along the routes.

Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Nasir said comprehensive measures have been taken to facilitate participants of mourning processions and majalis across the district. He said special attention is being given to cleanliness and sanitation along procession routes, while adequate lighting arrangements have also been ensured.
