Safe City Project launched in Sukkur
Implementation of the Safe City Project began in Sukkur district on Sunday, with over 50 advanced CCTV cameras already installed in Rohri and 160 more modern cameras planned for Sukkur city in the next phase.
Chairman District Council Sukkur Syed Kamil Haider Shah visited the monitoring room at the SSP Office and reviewed the system. Addressing a joint press conference with SSP Azhar Mughal and Deputy Commissioner Nadir Shahzad, he said the project is underway to strengthen surveillance across the district.
Shah said the central 9th Muharram procession will be monitored through high-resolution cameras, and a modern surveillance system has been activated at all city entry and exit points.
He added that the Sukkur project would be linked to the Karachi Safe City network in the future and extended to Pano Aqil, Saleh Pat, and Bagarji.
SSP Azhar Mughal said the new cameras are equipped with vehicle number-plate recognition and facial identification technology.
"Effective surveillance arrangements have been made from Rohri up to Lansdowne Bridge. The Safe City Project will play a vital role in crime prevention and citizen safety," he said.
