Pakistan Railways is once again facing locomotive shortage and is operating with only 70 engines throughout the country, Express 24/7 reported on Tuesday.

More than 100 trains were cancelled due to a shortage of locomotives and poor maintenance resulted in the shutting down of six engines last week.

Karachi and Lahore junctions have a total of 43 engines left with them, Kundiyan station has eight, Rohi has 13, Rawalpindi has four and Quetta is left with only two engines.

It had earlier been reported that Railway authorities were considering a proposal to rent locomotives from different countries in order to normalise its operations.

The proposal was under consideration to hire locomotives from India, which will be finalised after the government approves it.

India has lot of spare diesel locomotives following her electrification of many routes.

Their logo says, "Indian Railways" though!
