Veteran actor Nauman Ijaz recently found himself at the centre of an online debate after a video posted on his Instagram drew criticism over his profession and livelihood. Known for his candid commentary, the actor responded to the backlash, urging critics to avoid judging others' professions and focus on their own conduct.

The controversy began when Ijaz shared a thought-provoking video discussing concepts of right and wrong and the moral awareness humans are believed to possess.

According to the video, human instincts naturally help distinguish physical harm. “When we pick up something hot, our hand tells us it is hot. When we put something in our mouth, our teeth tell us if it is hard. If something is bitter, our tongue tells us it is bitter. If food is stale or spoiled, our nose tells us something is wrong,” he said.

However, Ijaz noted that moral judgement requires conscious effort and divine guidance rather than instinct alone.

“But there is only one thing, halal or haram, that Allah has left for us to decide with His guidance,” he remarked, adding, “Even after His clear commands, if we still consume haram, earn haram, or engage in haram actions, then what does that say about us? Should we not be ashamed?”

While the message was intended as a philosophical reflection on morality, it quickly triggered criticism online, with some users questioning how his views aligned with his career in the entertainment industry.

Responding to the backlash, Ijaz pushed back against what he described as a “typical mindset”, advising critics to reflect on their own actions instead of judging others.

He urged people to focus on positivity and avoid scrutinising how others earn a living.

Despite the trolling, many of his followers praised the video, describing it as “thought-provoking” and commending the actor for sharing his perspective on morality and self-reflection.
