Minor girl killed in alleged CCD firing
A tragic incident in Chakwal has raised serious questions about law enforcement procedures after a nine-year-old girl was allegedly killed in firing by personnel of the Crime Control Department (CCD), while her father and brother sustained critical injuries. Following the incident, a CCD official has been taken into custody.
According to police, Australian national Adil had recently arrived in Pakistan with his wife Dr Sidra, son Afnan and nine-year-old daughter Hania.
On the day of the incident, the family was travelling to attend a dinner at their relatives' house when, near the CCD police station, motorcycle-riding robbers allegedly intercepted their vehicle and snatched cash and jewellery.
Police claimed that CCD personnel spotted the suspected robbers at the scene, leading to an exchange of fire between the officials and the suspects.
According to sources, frightened by the situation, Adil attempted to drive away from the area. However, CCD personnel allegedly considered his vehicle suspicious and opened fire on it as well.
