DPO transferred after tiff with lawmaker's nephew
SP Fawad Ahmad to head Hafizabad police

A district police officer (DPO) has reportedly been transferred after ordering a nephew of a lawmaker out of his office for allegedly using his washroom without permission.
According to sources, the nephew of the Punjab Assembly member from Hafizabad, who is the parliamentary secretary for the Services and General Administration Department had visited the DPO office along with other political figures regarding matters related to his constituency.
As the meeting stretched on, the visitor allegedly used a washroom located in the office while the officer was away.
The sources said that upon returning, the DPO objected to the use of the facility and rudely asked the visitor to leave, saying that he had not authorised anyone to use it.
The incident reportedly angered the politician's nephew, who is said to be eyeing a provincial assembly ticket from his party in the next general elections.
The matter was subsequently taken up with influential political figures, who allegedly began lobbying for the officer's removal.
On Friday, Punjab Inspector General of Police Abdul Kareem transferred DPO Kamran Hamid from Hafizabad and posted him to the Safe Cities Authority in Lahore.
SP Fawad Ahmad was appointed the new DPO of Hafizabad.
Soon after the transfer order was issued, a social media post "Now You Get Lost" attributed to the complainant appeared to celebrate the transfer.
The controversy sparked a public debate over access to facilities in government offices. While some social media users argued that public offices should remain accessible to visitors, others defended the officer's right to restrict access to personal or designated official spaces.
Neither the Punjab Police nor the provincial government confirmed any connection between the transfer and the alleged altercation.
