ISLAMABAD:

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry has termed an alleged phone call linked to the banned Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) as an extremely serious matter, calling for a comprehensive, impartial and transparent investigation.

In a post on social media platform X, Chaudhry said multiple pieces of evidence regarding the proscribed group had already surfaced, but the alleged phone call had further exposed what he described as the committee's "real face".

He said the claim of organising a peaceful protest was inconsistent with references made in the conversation, particularly regarding "500 riflemen", adding that the matter warranted urgent scrutiny by relevant institutions.

The minister reiterated that all anti-state conspiracies would be investigated in accordance with the law and that appropriate action would be taken against those found responsible.

Meanwhile, police have registered a case against Mirpur resident Imran Sheikh for allegedly making hateful and derogatory remarks against state institutions.

According to the FIR, the suspect delivered inflammatory and offensive speeches against state institutions during a public gathering in the UK.
