Taylor Swift steals spotlight at 'Toy Story 5' premiere
Pop superstar Taylor Swift made a surprise appearance in Hollywood at the premiere of animated movie 'Toy Story 5', delivering a live performance in a "Jessie-coded" yellow outfit that paid tribute to the iconic Pixar character.
Swift sat at a piano in a full-length gown and performed 'I Knew It, I Knew You', a song she wrote for the new 'Toy Story' instalment. The singer said she has long been a fan of the franchise. "It means the world to me to be a small part of these films," she said.
The unexpected performance by the 14-time Grammy winner added a star-studded musical moment to the film's launch event. Swift later returned to the stage for a second set, energising the audience before acknowledging the filmmakers and production team.
The appearance marks another high-profile crossover between Swift's music career and film projects, as she continues to expand her presence in cinema. Her involvement in the 'Toy Story 5' soundtrack further strengthens the connection between pop music and one of animation's most successful franchises, drawing global attention ahead of the film's release.
Earlier, Swift posed on the red carpet with Tom Hanks, Joan Cusack and other members of the 'Toy Story' voice cast. 'Toy Story 5' is scheduled for release by Walt Disney's Pixar Animation Studios on June 19.
The following day, Swift was spotted among the star-studded crowd at Madison Square Garden as the New York Knicks staged the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history. She sat courtside in a blue T-shirt bearing the words 'Stevie Knicks', a play on the name of singer Stevie Nicks. Swift was joined by Alana Haim and Este Haim, who wore similarly themed shirts reading "Knickelback" and "Knickole Kidman" respectively.
