ISLAMABAD:

The federal government has made it mandatory for all civil servants to declare details of any dual nationality within 90 days, formally initiating implementation of the Foreign Nationality Rules 2026.

According to an office memorandum issued by the Establishment Division, the government has directed all public officials to submit a comprehensive declaration regarding their citizenship status within the stipulated timeframe.

Under the new framework which came into effect from June 1, a special declaration form related to dual nationality has been prepared and circulated to all ministries, divisions and relevant departments for compliance.

The memorandum states that all government officers and employees are now bound to disclose complete information regarding any foreign nationality, passports, permanent residency status, or other overseas affiliations.

In addition, civil servants have been instructed to provide details of the citizenship and immigration status of their spouses and dependent children. The move aims to ensure greater transparency in public service and maintain official records of foreign affiliations.

The government has also made it compulsory for new recruits in civil service to submit declarations related to foreign nationality and immigration status at the time of induction.

The office memorandum warns that any officer or employee found concealing facts or submitting false information will face departmental action under the relevant rules.

It further emphasizes that disclosing participation in foreign immigration programmes, travel documents, and overseas residence is also mandatory.

Meanwhile, specific instructions have been issued to officers of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), particularly those serving in Customs and Inland Revenue, to submit their declaration forms by July 8.

If Shabbar Zaidi is to be believed it s these bureaucrats holding dual nationalities in the infamous Q block that are responsible for the certain financial ruin of the economy to the point of default. Dual nationality should altogether be banned for civil servants...if you have to get one retire from bureaucracy and go get one like all the common citizens...
