Punjab to buy wheat from PASSCO

CM approves plan to stabilise flour prices

LAHORE:

The Punjab government decided in a video-link meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday to procure one million tonnes of wheat from the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO).

During the meeting convened to review the wheat and flour situation, the chief minister approved the purchase to ensure stability of prices across the province.

Under the plan, wheat will be procured from PASSCO, while flour mills will be provided wheat at Rs3,300 per maund to ensure the availability of affordable flour and bread for the public.

According to a statement, the participants also reviewed concerns regarding the alleged restriction on the supply of wheat from Punjab to other provinces, particularly Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh. A detailed report was presented regarding the matter.
