Two robbers killed, five held as Hyd police launch crackdown

HYDERABAD:

Two alleged robbers were killed and two others arrested injured in two separate encounters on Monday, while five suspects including two women drug suppliers were arrested in other operations.

According to a police spokesperson, Naseem Nagar police exchanged fire with two members of an active dacoit gang near Goth Karan Khan Shoro during routine patrolling and both suspects were killed on the spot.

The deceased were identified as Mor Khan Shar of Mirpur Mathelo, Ghotki, and Abdul Rasheed Junejo of Shaidi Goth, Qasimabad.

Police said both were linked to recent house robberies in Naseem Nagar and Qasimabad areas and were allegedly involved in a robbery at trader Izhar Hussain Chandio's house in Jatoi Chowk, Phase-II, Qasimabad, where suspects took away over Rs2 million cash, gold jewelry, mobile phones, a motorcycle and other items at gunpoint.

Separately, Site SHO Inspector Tahir Mughal and team arrested three suspected drug suppliers, including two women, Zareena and Ayesha Shah, along with Baqa Brohi, during raids on tip-offs. Police seized 1.06kg, 1.09kg and 1.08kg of hashish from Zareena, Ayesha and Baqa respectively. Zareena was wanted in a Site police case, while Baqa was wanted under the Anti-Terrorism Act. Separate cases have been registered.

Hosri police also arrested suspect Shakeel Malik with a loader rickshaw and seized 100 packets of prepared mainpuri, 150kg tobacco and 10kg raw material allegedly used for mainpuri manufacturing. His accomplice, Abdul Majeed Aalimani, escaped and raids are ongoing for his arrest.

Police said investigations into all cases are underway and criminal records of the suspects are being obtained.
