PPP warns against 'mandate theft' in G-B polls

ISLAMABAD:

PPP Central Secretary Information Nadeem Afzal Chan on Sunday accused the federal government of attempting to engineer the G-B elections and warned that such tactics would not succeed in depriving the people of the region of their mandate.

In a statement, Chan alleged that two federal ministers currently present in the region were attempting to influence the electoral process by exerting pressure on the administration and state machinery.

He said reports were emerging that presiding officers were facing pressure not to issue Form-45, raising serious questions about the transparency of the election process.
