Aerial firing at wedding leads to five arrests
Police claimed on Sunday to have arrested five men for allegedly carrying out aerial firing during a wedding celebration in the Chitti Dhaki area of Sarai Saleh after a video of the incident went viral on social media.
According to police officials, the suspects resorted to celebratory firing using illegal weapons, endangering public safety. The viral footage drew the attention of Haripur District Police Officer (DPO) Shafiullah Gandapur, who took notice of the incident and ordered swift action against those involved.
Following the directive, Sarai Saleh police conducted a raid and arrested the suspects involved in the aerial firing. The arrested individuals have been identified as Shoaib son of Cesar Khan, Nisar son of Mukhtar Khan, Khan Baz son of Nazar Ahmed Khan, all residents of Chitti Dhaki, along with Pervez Khan son of Shamrez Khan, resident of Rawalpindi, and Inam Parcha son of Naim Parcha, resident of Waris Khan, Rawalpindi.
Police also recovered firearms and ammunition from the possession of the accused. The suspects have been booked and transferred to lock-up.
Officials confirmed that further raids were underway to apprehend other individuals involved in the incident, while a search operation remained ongoing in the area.
