SIALKOT:

DCO Mujahid Sher Dil has directed all concerned officials to ensure the earliest possible purchase of ten fumigation machines for the district. According to the DCO, each machine will operate in every TMA in Daska, Sambrial and other divisions to curb the dengue epidemic spreading in the district.

Addressing a meeting of TMA officials on Sunday, the DCO said that Rs100,000 would be spent on the purchase of the fumigation machines. He also asked the officials to ensure that the virus was contained and that the spray was conducted efficiently in every locality.

Meanwhile, the Sialkot Health Department is giving priority to areas identified by local politicians for fumigation. “High risk areas will be targeted first on an emergency basis and then we will complete the spray in all remaining areas,” a Health Department official said.

District Health Officer Dr Fiaz Ahmed Butt said the fumigation had been stalled because of the shortage of fumigation equipment. “Now that the new machines will be arriving soon we can get back to work,” he said.
