QUETTA:

Police in Chaman have registered a case against the Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, and other party figures for allegedly delivering inflammatory remarks during a public rally.

The first information report (FIR) of the case was registered at the Chaman police station on the complaint from a Gulistan resident, Abdul Wali Khan, who alleged that Achakzai made highly controversial statements while addressing a rally of roughly 650 to 700 people.

Achakzai, also the chairman of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP), and other party leaders had been nominated in the case. The FIR said they targeted the provincial administration, slamming the law and order and accused the government of failing to protect the public.

According to the complainant, Achakzai also rejected the current government's legitimacy. Besides, the political rally blocked traffic and caused public inconvenience, while loudspeakers were used illegally to incite resentment against state institutions.

The police registered the case under multiple sections of the Pakistan Penal Code, including Sections 153, 505, 131, 341, 147, and 149, in tandem with violations of the Balochistan Sound System (Regulation) Act, 2016.
