In a statement shared alongside the announcement, Swift said she had always dreamed of writing for the beloved Pixar franchise and was inspired to create the song after seeing an early version of the film.
“I Knew It, I Knew You” is set for release on June 5 and is already available to pre-order through Swift’s official website. Multiple collector’s edition CD singles have also been made available, including acoustic and piano versions featuring alternate artwork.
Speculation about a Taylor Swift and Toy Story 5 collaboration began in late April when a countdown briefly appeared on her website before disappearing. Fans later pointed to similarities between the countdown visuals and the iconic cloud wallpaper featured in the Toy Story films.
The rumours intensified in May when billboards displaying the letters “TS” in the franchise’s signature font appeared in several cities. Pixar further fuelled speculation through social media posts referencing Swift’s hit song “Shake It Off.”
Additional clues appeared across streaming platforms, with Toy Story-themed visuals linked to Swift’s music catalogue.
Toy Story 5 is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on June 19, while Swift’s new song will debut two weeks earlier, marking her first official collaboration with the iconic animated franchise.
