It Sector: PM urges placement of interns

Gilani directed the board to increase the number of interns and also the amount of stipend

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said that interns from less developed regions of the country should be encouraged in order to enter the field of Information Technology (IT).  While a meeting of the board of directors of Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) on Monday, Gilani directed the board to increase the number of interns and also the amount of stipend to facilitate them to complete their training. He also directed that due attention be given to impart training to the special persons who have special aptitude for IT related areas.  The IT industry of Pakistan is earning about $1 billion annually. “The industry is booming at a rate of average 20% and providing lucrative jobs to tens of thousands Pakistani young IT professionals,” he said.
