KARACHI:

The administration has launched a crackdown against illegal cattle markets and roadside sale of sacrificial animals across the metropolis ahead of Eidul Azha.

According to officials, the crackdown is aimed at removing unauthorised cattle markets established without formal approval and curbing roadside trading that is causing traffic congestion and sanitation issues. Authorities said several people involved in setting up illegal markets have been arrested, while FIRs have also been registered against them. The district administrations have also submitted detailed reports of the actions to Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi.

In Shah Faisal Colony, an illegal cattle market was dismantled and several people were taken into custody. In District Central, Deputy Commissioner Tahir Sulaiman removed a market set up near Peela Hotel, stating that repeated operations had been conducted at the same location in the past as well. He added that monitoring teams have now been deployed to prevent the re-emergence of illegal setups and ensure smooth flow of traffic.
