10kg home-made bomb defused in Bannu

BANNU:

In a timely and effective operation, Bannu Police foiled a major terrorist attack by successfully defusing a 10-kilogram remote-controlled bomb planted in a busy area of the district.

Acting on a credible intelligence tip, a large police contingent accompanied by the Bomb Disposal Squad rushed to the spot near Gul Zaman Mosque on Bannu-Miran Shah Road, within the jurisdiction of Cantonment Police Station. The area was immediately cordoned off and a thorough search operation was launched.

During the search, the explosive device was discovered and promptly neutralized by the Bomb Disposal Squad. Officials said the 10-kg bomb was powerful enough to cause widespread destruction and loss of life had it detonated.
