RAWALPINDI:

In view of the expected large influx of tourists during the Eid-ul-Azha holidays, Murree Deputy Commissioner has imposed Section 144 across the district, banning all types of gatherings on Mall Road.

Under Section 144, only families will be allowed to enter the Mall Road, while strict action will be taken against displaying weapons, firing in the air, one-wheeling and skating.

According to the order issued, the ban will be in effect from May 20 to May 31. A modern "Smart Crowd and Traffic Management Model" has been also been developed to ensure traffic flow and law and order, considering that last year, more than 300,000 vehicles entered Murree in the first seven days of Eidul Azha.

The Murree DPO said that to address the traffic situation this year, more than 700 personnel will be deployed for security and traffic control, including 500 security personnel and 200 traffic wardens.

He said that a "Safe Tourism App" has also been introduced for the guidance of tourists, through which live traffic updates and the "Text to DPO" feature can be used.

In the advisory issued by the police, tourists have been directed to check the brakes, tires and engine of their vehicles before traveling to the mountains and avoid unnecessary travel on the second and third days of Eid.
