KARACHI:

A police station has been established at the Federal Urdu University of Arts Science and Technology (FUUAST), Gulshan-e-Iqbal campus, reportedly with the approval of the university administration.

The university's Vice Chancellor, Dr Zabta Khan Shinwari, is said to have authorised the relocation of Aziz Bhatti police station to the academic block of the science campus. However, Registrar Inayat Ali Shah stated that he only learned about the development recently. When asked, he said he was unsure whether he had issued the permission letter, adding that the campus officer may have proceeded with the relocation after obtaining approval from the vice chancellor.

According to details, the police station is being moved to a location behind the BSc block of the science campus in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. Parts of the investigation wing have already been shifted, while preparations for the SHO office are underway. Once completed, the full relocation will be finalised.

Police officials present at the site confirmed that formal permission had been obtained from the university administration, initially for a period of six months.
