Three SPSF activists booked after armed clash at Sindh University
Jamshoro police have registered a case against three named students and 15 unidentified suspects over an armed clash between rival groups of the Sindh Peoples Students Federation (SPSF) at the University of Sindh campus, which left a student injured and hostel rooms set ablaze.
The FIR was lodged on the complaint of Sindh University Director Security Rafiq Brohi under sections 324, 504, 147, 148, 149 and 337-H(ii) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
The nominated suspects were identified as Sarwar Qambrani alias Dada, Hafeez Zardari and Yaqoob Soomro. According to the complaint, the clash erupted near the Magsi Canteen adjacent to the university's Commerce Department at around 11:30pm on Sunday, when dozens of students armed with weapons, sticks and bricks engaged in violent fighting.
During the confrontation, Azhar Shah, a third-year student of the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), sustained a gunshot wound to his leg. Police said the injured student appeared to be a passerby caught in the violence. He was shifted to Liaquat University Hospital, where his condition was reported to be stable.
The violence later spread to Lal Shahbaz Hostel, where two rooms were set on fire during a second round of clashes late Sunday night.
