Fresh grab bid on Jamia Millia land sparks govt action

KARACHI:

A fresh attempt to allegedly encroach upon government-owned land of Jamia Millia Government College has been uncovered, prompting action by the Sindh College Education Department.

On the directives of Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah, Secretary College Education Nadeem ur Rehman Memon instructed Director General Colleges Sindh Zahid Hussain Rajpar and Regional Director Colleges Karachi Region Gulab Rai to visit Al-Falah Police Station in Shah Faisal Town, Korangi district, along with the college principal and ensure immediate registration of an FIR against the alleged encroachers.

According to officials, a private housing society allegedly attempted to illegally occupy the college land. The administration took serious notice of the matter and sought immediate intervention from law enforcement agencies.

Regional Director Colleges Gulab Rai said the same government land had previously been cleared of encroachment following action by the Assistant Commissioner Shah Faisal and the Mukhtiarkar.
