Valve’s Steam Support has offered a customer a free game of their choice after a Steam Controller order was delayed due to a shipping error that sent the package to the UK instead of its intended destination.

The incident was shared online by a Reddit user, who posted a screenshot of a Steam Support message explaining that “a small number of packages were mistakenly routed to the UK.”

The message stated that the shipping carrier was “actively working” to redirect the package to the correct address, while advising the customer to monitor GLS tracking updates.

As part of the response, Steam Support issued an unexpected form of compensation. The message read, “We would like to offer to add a game to your library. Please pick any standard-edition title available for purchase in your region and reply here with your selection.”

The Reddit user later confirmed in the discussion thread that they selected Forza Horizon 6 as their chosen game.

The post quickly circulated across Reddit and other social media platforms, with users reacting to the unusually flexible compensation offer.

Many noted that Steam Support allowed the customer to select essentially any standard-edition game available on the storefront, rather than restricting options to store credit or a limited list of titles.

Some users commented that they would not mind similar delays if it resulted in receiving a full-priced game in return, while others highlighted positive past experiences with Steam Support’s customer service.

One user on X shared a separate example, stating, “Steam Support is unparalleled,” and describing how they were refunded within an hour after reporting unauthorised purchases made using their debit card.

The Steam Controller, which launched in May 2026, reportedly sold out quickly at release and has gained attention online for unusual features, including claims that it can produce a loud sound if dropped.
