Forza Horizon 6 becomes highest rated game of 2026 on Metacritic
Forza Horizon 6 tops 2026 Metacritic rankings with 92 score, overtaking Resident Evil Requiem and Pokémon Pokopia

Forza Horizon 6 has become the highest rated game of 2026 so far after achieving a Metacritic score of 92, overtaking earlier frontrunners Resident Evil Requiem and Pokémon Pokopia, which both held an 89.
At the start of the year, both Resident Evil Requiem and Pokémon Pokopia shared the top position on Metacritic’s 2026 rankings.
Other titles such as Saros at 87 and Capcom releases Monster Hunter Stories 3 and Pragmata at 86 and 85 respectively also placed strongly, but none surpassed the joint leaders until now.
The new Xbox release from Playground Games has now taken the lead with early reviews placing it at 92 on Metacritic, while also earning a 91 on OpenCritic. The score positions it as the first game of 2026 to break into the 90-plus range.
Forza Horizon 6 continues a long-running trend for the franchise, which has consistently performed strongly in reviews. Across the series, no mainline entry has scored below 85 on Metacritic, while recent instalments have regularly reached the low 90s range.
The racing series’ performance follows a wider pattern in which only a small number of major releases each year cross the 90 threshold, making its current ranking notable within the 2026 release cycle.
However, the top position is not expected to remain fixed for long. Several major titles scheduled for later in the year are already considered potential challengers, including 007 First Light, Mina the Hollower, Beast of Reincarnation, The Blood of Dawnwalker, Phantom Blade Zero and Marvel’s Wolverine.
Grand Theft Auto 6, currently expected in November 2026, is also widely anticipated to be a major contender for the highest score of the year.
Further reviews for Forza Horizon 6 are still expected, which could adjust its final Metacritic average as more critics publish scores.
