Is this the lyric that completely shifted the mood of Drake’s ‘Iceman’?

Drake sparks emotional reactions after deeply personal ‘Iceman’ confession

Canadian rap superstar Drake opened up about a deeply personal family struggle on his newly released album Iceman, revealing that his father, Dennis Graham, is currently battling cancer.

The emotional revelation comes on "Make Them Cry," the opening track of the album, where Drake reflects on fame, therapy, pressure, and the complicated realities of family life. Toward the end of the introspective song, he delivers the heartbreaking line: “My dad got cancer right now, we battling stages/Trust me when I say there’s plenty things I’d rather be facing.”

The confession quickly became one of the most talked-about moments on Iceman, which arrived Friday alongside two surprise companion albums, Habibti and Maid Of Honour. While much of the project touches on the aftermath of Drake’s highly publicized feud with Kendrick Lamar, the rapper also uses the record to unpack more vulnerable and personal themes.

Throughout the years, Drake has been candid about his complicated relationship with his father. Dennis Graham and Drake’s mother, Sandi Graham, divorced when the artist was young, and Drake has often referenced the emotional impact of his upbringing in his music. In recent years, however, the father-son duo appeared to have reconciled publicly, with Dennis frequently supporting his son’s career and appearances.

Beyond its emotional subject matter, Iceman also marks another major release in Drake’s discography. The album features production from longtime collaborator Noah “40” Shebib along with contributions from Overkst, OK, and several other producers. It also includes collaborations with artists such as Future and rising performer Molly Santana.

Iceman serves as Drake’s ninth solo studio album and his first major solo release since his explosive lyrical battle with Kendrick Lamar. The project follows last year’s collaborative R&B album with PARTYNEXTDOOR, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U.

Fans across social media have since flooded Drake with support, with many praising the artist for his honesty and vulnerability during what appears to be a difficult period for his family.
