Panel calls for review of motorway speed cap
.

A parliamentary panel on Thursday called for revisiting the government's decision to reduce speed limits on motorways and national highways.
A lawmaker recommended restoration of the previous limit for cars on motorways from 100 kilometres per hour to 120 kilometres per hour.
The proposal came during a meeting of the PAC sub-committee chaired by Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry. Committee member Rana Qasim Noon, communications secretary and the IG Motorway Police attended the meeting.
The body reviewed audit reports of the Ministry of Communications for the years 2003-04 and 2009-11.
At the outset of the meeting, the issue of reduced speed limits on motorways came under discussion. Noon urged the Motorway Police chief to reconsider the decision to lower speed limits on motorways and national highways.
In response, the IG Motorway Police said the department only implements decisions taken by the government.
