Suspect wanted in 50 cases held

A suspected robber wanted in more than 50 cases was injured and arrested in an alleged police encounter in the Kahna area, while his two accomplices escaped. The incident occurred near Sui Asal.

According to police officials, a team at a checkpoint signalled three suspicious motorcyclists to stop during snap checking.

However, the suspects allegedly tried to flee and opened fire on the police who retaliated, leading to an exchange of gunfire during which one of the suspects was allegedly injured by bullets fired by his accomplices.

The injured man fell to the ground and was arrested along with a weapon, while the other two suspects escaped.

Police identified the arrested suspect as Allah Wasaya, a resident of Halloki. Officials said he was wanted in over 50 criminal cases. The suspect was shifted to Lahore General Hospital.

The police said search operations were under way to arrest the fleeing accomplices of the arrested man.
