'Shahrah-e-Bhutto to fully open this month'
Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that the Shahrah-e-Bhutto would be fully opened to the public this month. The highway will connect with the M-9 Motorway, reducing travel time for citizens by nearly one hour.
Speaking at a press conference, Sharjeel described the Shahrah-e-Bhutto project as a 'game changer' that would significantly improve the city's traffic and transport system. He also revealed, a new road is being constructed from Karachi Port to the Taj Haider Bridge to further enhance connectivity.
He said, some previously stalled projects have also been restarted. The KMC and the local government department are jointly working on major projects, including a modern Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, he mentioned.
He further disclosed that during the President Asif Ali Zardari's recent visit to China, a memorandum of understanding was signed for a desalination plant project under which a Chinese company would install a facility to convert seawater into usable water. The project is expected to help address Karachi's water shortage crisis. Agreements in the livestock and agriculture sectors were also signed during the visit, which he described as major diplomatic and economic achievements.
