Director Matt Reeves has officially confirmed the main cast for The Batman Part II, revealing a mix of returning characters and new additions through a series of social media posts.
Robert Pattinson will reprise his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the upcoming sequel, which is set to release in 2027. He will be joined by Scarlett Johansson, whose casting has now been officially confirmed by Reeves after earlier industry speculation.
Several key cast members from The Batman (2022) are also returning. These include Jeffrey Wright as Gotham City Police Commissioner Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb, also known as The Penguin, Jayme Lawson as Mayor Bella Reál, and Gil Perez-Abraham as Officer Martinez.
Reeves revealed the cast announcements individually across X, a rollout style that echoed recent franchise reveal strategies seen in other major superhero projects. The director has previously used similar social media posts to tease developments from the film.
Story details for The Batman Part II remain under wraps, although Reeves has hinted that the sequel will introduce a villain who has not been previously explored in a feature film. The script is co-written by Reeves and Mattson Tomlin.
The HBO series The Penguin is also expected to serve as a narrative bridge between the two films, with its events leading directly into the sequel’s storyline. The Batman Part II is currently scheduled to release on October 1, 2027.
