ISLAMABAD:

A meeting of the seven-member Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) will be held today (Thursday) under the chairmanship of Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi.

According to sources, the meeting will be attended by Federal Constitutional Court Chief Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan, SC judges Muneeb Akhtar, Jamal Khan Mandokhail and Hasan Azhar Rizvi.

Chief justices of the Lahore High Court and the Islamabad High Court (IHC)—Aalia Neelum and Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar—are also part of the forum.

Sources said that if complaints against any serving judge of the IHC are taken up during the meeting, Justice Dogar may not participate in the proceedings. In that case, Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Syed Muhammad Atique Shah is likely to attend the meeting as a member of the council in his place.

Complaints against a judge of the IHC are currently pending before the Supreme Judicial Council.
