PM directs full utilisation of resources to strengthen law enforcement agencies after recent terror attacks

Directs reforms in interior ministry institutions and enhanced capacity of police and FIA

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday directed that all available resources be utilised to enhance the capacity of law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of citizens’ lives and property.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, the remarks were made during an important meeting on the country’s law and order situation and the affairs of the Ministry of Interior, held under the chairmanship of the prime minister.

PM Shehbaz said strengthening law enforcement institutions remained a top priority of the government. “All available resources will be utilised to ensure the protection of public life and property,” he said.

He directed the authorities to strictly implement a zero-tolerance policy against corruption within law enforcement institutions.

“Corruption in law enforcement agencies will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” he said.

The prime minister also instructed that all recruitments in institutions working under the Ministry of Interior, including the Federal Investigation Agency, be ensured purely on merit.
