GUJRAT:

A woman employee was allegedly shot dead by her husband inside a NADRA office in Gujrat on Monday, after which the suspect reportedly died by suicide, creating panic and fear among staff and visitors.

According to police, the incident occurred at a NADRA office where 42-year-old Amber, a resident of Mohalla Dara Balochan, was employed.

Her husband, identified as 45-year-old Bilal Saqib, had reportedly dropped her at the office in the morning when an argument broke out between the couple on the upper floor of the building.

Police said Bilal allegedly opened fire with a pistol, killing his wife on the spot before turning the weapon on himself.

The incident raised serious questions over security arrangements at the government office as employees and visitors were left terrified following the shooting.

Police from Civil Lines police station shifted the bodies to hospital for post-mortem examination and launched an investigation.

A case has been registered under an FIR on the complaint of the couple's son, Mansoor Bilal.

According to the FIR, the couple had been facing domestic disputes for the past eight to ten years.
