CHANGA MANGA:

A woman was allegedly assaulted and injured after objecting to neighbours accused of repeatedly harassing her daughter-in-law in the Kanganpur area, police said on Sunday.

According to the complaint lodged at Kanganpur police station, Zarina Bibi, a resident of Manori Post Office locality, stated that three brothers identified as Asif, Mubeen and Kashif had allegedly been making obscene remarks and inappropriate jokes toward her daughter-in-law for some time.

The complainant said she had previously warned the suspects several times and asked them to stop harassing her family.

She told police that the latest incident occurred when her daughter-in-law, Asifa Bibi, went to a local market to purchase medicine and was allegedly harassed again by the suspects on the way.

After being informed about the incident, Zarina Bibi went to the suspects' house to protest and counsel them, but the argument allegedly turned violent.

According to the FIR, the suspects allegedly subjected her to physical assault, punching and slapping her repeatedly, while one of the accused, Kashif, allegedly bit her on the arm.

The complainant further alleged that the suspects also used sticks during the assault, causing multiple internal injuries.

Police said a case had been registered against the three nominated suspects and raids were under way to arrest them.

The victim appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to take notice of the incident and ensure protection for her family.
