RAWALPINDI:

The government has formally approved the launch of a smart cleanliness system across Punjab for Eidul Azha this year, using Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the first time in the province's history to collect sacrificial animal waste, remove garbage and ensure complete cleanliness.

Under the Suthra Punjab Programme, an AI complaint cell will be established for the first time.

Around 40,000 vehicles and 176,000 employees will be monitored through AI. AI-equipped bikes will also be introduced across Punjab to identify garbage points.

Those showing negligence during Eidul Azha cleanliness operations will face online spot fines. Bags will be provided across Punjab for the disposal of animal waste. A new attendance app has also been prepared, while physical verification of workers will be conducted through a mobile application.

The number of waste collection centres in Punjab will be increased. In all 6,500 union councils across the province, solid waste management companies will distribute large shopping bags to citizens for sacrificial waste disposal two days before Eidul Azha.
