A man was allegedly poisoned to death in the Peoples Colony area of Shakargarh on Thursday.
Police said investigations were underway while some suspects, including a woman, had reportedly been taken into custody for questioning.
According to SHO City Police Station Shakargarh Naveed Warraich, the deceased was identified as Shahid Hayat, who had been staying at a relative’s house for the past several days.
According to the FIR registered at City Police Station Shakargarh, complainant Zeeshan Hayat told police that his brother Shahid Hayat frequently visited the house of his maternal uncle, Pervez Ahmed, in Peoples Colony and had been residing there for the past few days. The complainant stated that on May 7, at around 10:55am, he received a phone call from his cousin Pervez Ahmed informing him that Shahid’s condition had suddenly deteriorated and that he was being shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital.
Zeeshan Hayat said he rushed to the hospital along with his uncle Sarfraz Hayat and cousin Mustafa Gulzar, only to find that Shahid had already died.
The complainant alleged that when they reached the hospital, the suspects, identified as Pervez Ahmed, his daughter Anam Pervez and wife Bushra Bibi, fled the scene along with two unidentified individuals.
