CIE cancels leaked AS Maths paper
Replacement exam set for June 9 in affected regions

Cambridge International Education (CIE) has cancelled an AS-level mathematics examination paper that was "shared prematurely" in violation of examination regulations, announcing that students in affected regions, including Pakistan, will now sit a replacement exam on June 9.
In a statement, CIE said its senior assessment experts had decided that "a new version of the Mathematics (9709/12) exam paper will be sat by all candidates in the affected regions".
The board said the original paper could neither be used to award final results nor considered under calculated assessment mechanisms, adding that the replacement examination was necessary to "ensure fair outcomes for students and deliver grades that are trusted by universities and other stakeholders".
The replacement examination will be conducted on Tuesday, June 9, while the overall result schedule will remain unchanged, with results still due on August 11.
"We are committed to making the replacement examination process as straightforward as possible." Neither students nor schools would face any additional charges because of the retake.
The examination board said guidance, including question paper distribution procedures and examination protocols, would be shared with schools by May 15.
