KARACHI:

A comprehensive fire safety and disaster preparedness workshop was held at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where citizens, medical staff, and representatives from various institutions received hands-on training in emergency response and fire prevention techniques. The awareness event included a live disaster drill.

Experts from Rescue 1122 demonstrated emergency procedures in case of fire outbreaks, guiding participants on evacuation protocols, immediate response measures, and safe handling of fire incidents using extinguishers.

Participants were trained to respond to electrical fires, gas cylinder explosions, and other emergency situations, with officials stressing that rapid evacuation and timely alerts are critical to minimizing loss of life and property.

Mayor Murtaza Wahab stressed that adherence to safety protocols, whether traffic rules or fire safety measures, can significantly reduce accidents. He added that similar training sessions should be held in universities and colleges across the city to build awareness at an early stage.

JPMC Executive Director Prof Dr Khalid Shah underscored the importance of such workshops for strengthening the healthcare system.
