ISLAMABAD:

Lieutenant Colonel Khalid Hussain, who embraced martyrdom during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan, was laid to rest with full military honours at Chaklala Garrison on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attended the funeral prayer along with Chief of Defence Forces Gen Syed Asim Munir, federal ministers, senior serving and retired military officials, as well as a large number of civilians and the martyr's relatives.

Paying tribute, the prime minister lauded the fallen officer's bravery, devotion, and unwavering commitment to defending the country.

He reiterated that Pakistan's armed forces, backed by the nation, remain determined to eliminate the threat of terrorism and its facilitators.

Lt Col Khalid Hussain, a resident of Sargodha, was martyred after sustaining injuries while leading his troops in a fierce exchange with Indian-sponsored terrorists.

He was described as a courageous officer who fought valiantly in the line of duty.
