Man, son held for killing blackmailer

Police have arrested a citizen and his son for allegedly killing a man who was blackmailing their family.

City Police Officer Sahibzada Bilal Umar said at a news conference along with other officials that the case had been registered on April 9 after Azhar Iqbal reported that his 50-year-old brother Javed had been abducted from the Factory Area. The case was lodged under Section 365 and investigation teams were formed.

The police later arrested the main suspect, a resident of Krishna Nagar. During interrogation, he confessed that he and his son had lured the victim on the pretext of fishing to Sahiwal, where they had killed him and stripped and disposed of the body.

Officials said an unidentified body found in the area previously had been identified as that of the victim and the case had been converted into a murder charge.

An official said the victim had intended to marry a 14-year-old girl and the family had opposed it. The victim was allegedly blackmailing the family.

The police said the suspects had planned the murder and taken the victim to Chak No. 127-RB, where the son had overpowered him and father had slit his throat.

Parts of the body had later been disposed of at different locations.
