Bajaur, Kunar tribal elders seal ceasefire deal
In a major breakthrough along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, tribal elders from Bajaur and Afghanistan's Kunar province have reached a "historic" peace agreement, declaring a complete ceasefire and committing to sustained cooperation to stabilise the region.
The accord was finalised during a grand jirga held in the Nawa Pass border area, where representatives from both sides agreed to halt all forms of firing and hostilities, marking a rare moment of consensus in a historically volatile zone. The jirga brought together senior tribal figures from Bajaur district and Afghanistan's Kunar province.
