Man 'killed by partners'
A man was allegedly tortured to death by his business partners after he demanded settlement of accounts in a marriage hall business, police said on Monday.
According to police, the victim, Tariq Mehmood, was a partner in a marquee on Canal Road. His wife, Nabeela, resident of Canal Park, lodged a complaint with Madina Town police that he had ongoing disputes with his partners over profit distribution.
She alleged that whenever she asked for household expenses, her husband said his partners were treating him unfairly and giving him less share.
Tariq was allegedly called by his partners Rana Azam, Muhammad Ejaz, Arshad Sunyara and Khurram Shah on the pretext of settling accounts. However, they reportedly harassed him, leading to an altercation.
During the quarrel, the accused, along with a security guard, Saleem, allegedly attacked the victim with rifle butts, leaving him unconscious. As his condition worsened, he was first taken to a private hospital in Gatwala and later referred to Allied Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
